Webinar Featuring San Marino Police Chief John Incontro

San Marino Police Chief John Incontro will be the featured speaker for the San Marino City Club Meeting to be held on November 17, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. Chief Incontro will speak on “The Challenges and Opportunities Facing a Police Chief in Our Current Times.” His talk will include leading a police organization in 2020 through the COVID crisis and the defunding movement, while recruiting, retaining, and training of officers.
Chief John N. Incontro began his law enforcement career in 1976 as a Cadet with the Glendale Police Department. In 1979 John joined the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). His tenure with the LAPD included significant experience in patrol operations, administrative duties, training and special operations. Following his retirement from the LAPD, he was appointed the Chief of Police for the San Marino Police Department in December 2014.
While working for the LAPD Incontro obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from California State University, Los Angeles and a Master of Science degree in Leadership and Management from the University of La Verne. He has completed the Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy, Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute and the Los Angeles Police Department’s Leadership Program. He has been an instructor for over 25 years in that program and its companion program – the Los Angeles Fire Department Leadership Program.
John has been an instructor and presented at several conferences in the areas of leadership, use of force, crowd management, tactics, and school safety. He has also presented policing subjects to numerous agencies and organizations, including the Department of State, Department of Homeland Security, and various other State and local agencies.
Chief Incontro is currently a member of the Federal InterAgency Board as a Deputy Co-Chair, California Police chiefs Association Legislation Committee, and a member of the Homeland Security Committee for the International Association of Chiefs of Police. Additionally, he is a member of Rotary International, San Marino Chapter, California Police Chiefs Association and the President of the Los Angeles County Police Chiefs Association.
